First dress

Finally, I managed to sew a dress for my little girl after promising her since last year.  It was tedious and time consuming but it is a worthwhile effort.

I like this floral applique on the dress.  It took a long time to complete them before starting to sew the dress itself.

Inspiration

I  want to acknowledge a friend who inspired me with her passion for arts and craft and her creativity.  Her willingness to share and teach despite of her busy schedule is very much appreciated.  Thanks.  This is one of my first few pieces which I am proud of despite of the many flaws when looked closely... :-)

Decoupage- household items

I am getting the hang of this craft especially on wooden objects.  Really enjoy this and found it very therapeutic in the midst of stressful study.

Decoupage

Decoupage is the art of decorating an object by gluing coloured paper cut outs such as gift wrapper, pictures from magazines, paper napkins ( serviettes) and other material.  The objects can be made of wood or metal.  I used paper napkins or serviettes with a variety of designs and I chose wooden objects such as wooden flower pots, pencil holders, cloth pegs and wooden boxes.  To glue the serviettes I have tried using PVA glue and Mod Podge and I find that the latter is more suitable.  I finished with a few layers of vanish spray with the hope that the the 'stuck on' appearance will disappear resulting like a painted job.  I enjoy this as I can complete them within a day unlike the sewing projects which I have to take a few weeks to accomplish.
